Eddie Adams was so much more than a single prize-winning photograph, more of a man than any obituary could ever reflect. Unlike so many “artists,” Eddie devoted his life to teaching the skills he had worked so hard to acquire, always sharing his gift … and himself. He faced his own end with the same courage he displayed on so many battlefields. I was honored to collaborate with him on this photo essay—the cover image is his beloved son, August, holding the world in his hands—and even more honored to be his friend.
